Arsenal and Manchester City secured hard-fought victories in the UEFA Champions League on Wednesday, November 4, 2026, defeating Slavia Prague 2-1 and RB Leipzig 3-2 respectively in their fourth league-phase fixtures.
At the Fortuna Arena in Prague, Arsenal took an early lead through Noni Madueke, who scored in the ninth minute after being set up by Viktor Gyökeres. The England international capitalised on an attacking opportunity to put Mikel Arteta’s side ahead.
Gyökeres doubled Arsenal’s advantage in the 38th minute, finishing a move involving Mikel Merino to give the visitors a two-goal cushion before half-time.
Slavia Prague attempted to fight their way back into the contest after the interval, putting Arsenal’s defence under considerable pressure. The hosts created several opportunities, but goalkeeper David Raya and defender Gabriel Magalhães made important interventions to prevent them from scoring earlier.
The Czech side eventually pulled one goal back in the 90th minute through Wiktor Nowak, setting up a tense finish. Arsenal, however, held on through the closing stages to secure a 2-1 away victory. The result also extended the Gunners’ unbeaten run in away European matches.
Meanwhile, Manchester City claimed a 3-2 victory over RB Leipzig at the Red Bull Arena in Germany after a match featuring several changes in the lead.
City opened the scoring in the 37th minute through an own goal by Leipzig defender Castello Lukeba, who inadvertently turned Nico O’Reilly’s delivery into his own net. The visitors consequently went into the half-time break with a 1-0 advantage.
Leipzig drew level four minutes into the second half when Ridle Baku scored in the 49th minute, converting a pass from Brajan Gruda. Manchester City restored their lead in the 58th minute as Enzo Fernández headed home a cross from Iliman Ndiaye.
The hosts responded almost immediately, with Antonio Nusa equalising in the 61st minute after receiving a pass from Christopher Nkunku. However, Erling Haaland settled the encounter in the 78th minute, finishing a move created by Elliot Anderson to give City a decisive 3-2 lead.
The results gave both English clubs maximum points from their respective away fixtures, with Arsenal overcoming Slavia Prague and Manchester City emerging victorious from their encounter with Leipzig in Wednesday’s Champions League action.
