An Abuja High Court sitting in Apo has ordered the final forfeiture of jewellery valued at approximately N4.65 billion and other high-value assets linked to businesswoman Aisha Achimugu to the Federal Government.
Justice Jude Onwugbuzie granted the order following an application by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), bringing the forfeiture proceedings over the disputed assets to a close.
In addition to the jewellery, the court directed the permanent forfeiture of 11 exotic vehicles valued at about N4.293 billion, $50,000 in cash, and N30 million recovered during the investigation.
According to the anti-graft agency, the assets were linked to investigations involving Achimugu, and the court was satisfied that the legal requirements for their permanent forfeiture had been met. The judgment effectively transfers ownership of the assets to the Federal Government.
The latest ruling follows earlier forfeiture proceedings involving Achimugu and her company, Oceangate Engineering Oil & Gas Limited. In March 2026, a Federal High Court ordered the final forfeiture of $13 million linked to the company after the EFCC argued that the funds represented proceeds of unlawful activities.
In that earlier case, the company maintained that the money came from legitimate business earnings and gifts allegedly received by Achimugu. However, the court held that sufficient evidence had not been presented to establish the lawful origin of the funds and dismissed the company’s challenge to the forfeiture.
The EFCC has consistently maintained that the forfeiture orders form part of its broader campaign to recover assets suspected to be connected with financial crimes, while the latest judgment further strengthens the Federal Government’s ownership of the seized valuables.
