- asks governor to pay pensioners, civil servants
The Kwara Stakeholders Consultative Forum, popularly known as Efura, has accused the Kwara State Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq of being wasteful and autocratic.
In its weekly radio programmme titled “Efura” on a radio station in Ilorin on Thursday, the forun accused the governor of wasting scarce resources of the state in his execution of “elephant” projects while ignoring the immediate needs of the people.
The forum alleged that despite enormous resources of over N614b, which accrued to the state in less than five years, the AbdulRahman’s administration does not have any tangible achievement to justify the income.
According to the forum in the program anchored by Hon. Ayansola Muhammed, the N17.8b earmarked for the renovation of Kwara Hotel is unjustifiable and extravagant , especially as a company had already bidded and secured the same contract for N3b only.

“The governor is building an International Conference Center, which includes a five-star hotel with a contract sum of N13.5b , while the same governor wants to renovate an existing Kwara Hotel to a five-star hotel at a sum of N17.8b. This is outrageous and wasteful,” the forum said.
The forum urged Gov AbdulRahman not to behave like a maximum ruler but rather listen to the people and act accordingly.
“Rather than build a University of Education which does not conform with modern realities , the governor should either convert the International Vocational and Technical Centre, IVTEC, Ajase-Ipo, into a University of Technology or develop the various campuses of the Kwara State University, Malete at Ilesha Baruba and Osi into standard universities of Agriculture and Engineering respectively”, the forum suggested.
The forum also urged governor AbdulRahman to pay pensioners and backlogs of promotion arrears and other entitlements to civil servants.
The forum advised the governor to relocate the proposed overhead bridge at Unity Road to either offa garage or Shao.
