The People’s Democratic Party has released a statement of public condemnation of the fresh allegations of corrupt expenditure against the Gov. Abdulrazaq Abdulrahman led government as alleged by Fresh Insight News, a Kwara based online news platform.
In a press release of 7th October 2022, signed by Prince ‘Tunji Moronfoye, the kwara State PDP publicity Secretary; the party quoted a Fresh Insight published story that, ” the government of Kwara state, under the watch of Gov. Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq has again been fingered in the diversion of the sum of One hundred and thirty seven million, seven hundred and sixteen thousand, seven hundred and forty Naira, twenty five kobo (N137,716,740.25).”

Fresh Insight news investigation according to the release revealed that ” the alleged diverted funds was used to renovate offices and construct sensitive security buildings for the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) zonal office in Ilorin, the Kwara State capital.”
The PDP queried the appropriateness of Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq’s unilateral and arbitrary spending of Kwara State funds on the EFCC which is a fully funded federal agency.
The press release also recalled another like sum of N138 million in a “transformer contract fiasco”
The release stated that “We are forced to remember the transformer contract fiasco where the sum of N138m was released to a contractor Mr ABASS ABDULRAZAQ, without a bank Guarantee, which is a strict requirement of the state procurement law. Till today Kwarans have not seen the 35 transformers that were to be supplied nor has the contract money been returned to the state coffers. Rather amusingly, Kwarans were only treated to a mild drama where the contractor was arraigned at a magistrate court and released same day, this was done to assuage the frayed nerves of Kwarans on this repugnant issue.”
