Senator Elisha Abbo, the lawmaker representing Adamawa North in the National Assembly, has been expelled by the executives of his local government chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) for “condemning and criticising” the party’s presidential candidate Bola Tinubu on national TV.
Abbo was also accused by the APC chapter in North Local Government Area of allegedly engaging in anti-party activities and tampering with the party’s internal democracy process.
This was disclosed in his expulsion letter, which was signed on Friday by 13 members of the state executives and made available to newsmen

The excos of Mubi North Local Government Area stated that they had reviewed, among other things, the report of the disciplinary committee before taking the decision to expel the senator, who has remained one of the dissenting voices against the ruling party’s Muslim-Muslim ticket.
The statement read in part, “Consequently, 29 members of the committee have approved the report of the disciplinary committee dated 5th day of October, 2022. Wherefore, expelled Senator Elisha Ishiyahu Abbo, based on the Interview granted on the AIT where he was condemning and criticising the Party presidential flag.”
Abbo, in July, resigned his membership from the campaign group of Tinubu hours after the APC’s presidential candidate bearer picked the former governor of Borno, Kashim Shetima, as his running mate.
At the time, he said: “Buhari fought a civil war and understands the consequences of a divided nation. When Tinubu wanted to be VP in 2015, Buhari said no because he understood the importance of unity.
“We sat down in Abuja and strategized, and we concluded that he should not take a Muslim as running mate. He (Tinubu) threw away the report.”
He added: “We cannot work for such a man. I will oppose Christian-Christian ticket because I am interested in the stability of this country. A Christian-Christian ticket will be insensitive to Muslims of this country.”
