Terrorist Kingpin’s Mother, Sister Jailed 40 Years by Abuja Court

Posted on June 19, 2026June 19, 2026 By Rextun boss No Comments on Terrorist Kingpin’s Mother, Sister Jailed 40 Years by Abuja Court

The Federal High Court in Abuja has sentenced the mother and sister of a deceased terrorist kingpin identified as Battujo to 40 years imprisonment for their involvement in terrorism-related activities.

The convictions were secured during the ongoing mass terrorism trials being conducted by the Federal Government as part of efforts to prosecute individuals linked to terrorist groups operating across the country. The court found the defendants guilty of offences connected to supporting and facilitating terrorist operations.

The trial formed part of a broader judicial process targeting suspected members, collaborators, financiers and logistical supporters of terrorist organisations. Nigerian authorities have intensified prosecutions under the Terrorism (Prevention and Prohibition) Act, with special court sessions handling hundreds of terrorism-related cases.

During the proceedings, prosecutors presented evidence linking the two women to activities that aided the operations of the late terrorist leader. After reviewing the evidence and hearing submissions from both parties, the court handed down prison terms amounting to 40 years.

The judgment underscores the government’s determination to hold not only active fighters accountable but also individuals accused of providing support networks for terrorist organisations. Security experts have long argued that dismantling logistics, financing and support structures is critical to weakening insurgent groups.

The latest convictions add to a series of recent terrorism-related judgments delivered by the Federal High Court in Abuja, where several suspects have received penalties ranging from lengthy prison terms to life imprisonment and, in some cases, death sentences for terrorism offences.

Authorities maintain that the ongoing trials are part of a comprehensive strategy aimed at strengthening national security, ensuring accountability and delivering justice for victims of terrorism across Nigeria.
