After credible intelligence, troops from Sector 5 quickly launched a sustained search-and-rescue operation. Early Friday, at around 6:40 a.m., they intercepted the kidnappers during an attempted ransom exchange with the relatives of the victims.
In the ensuing clash, the troops engaged the kidnappers with superior firepower, forcing them to abandon their captives and flee into nearby forests. All 10 abductees were rescued unharmed.
Recovered from the scene were a locally fabricated AK-47 rifle, one round of 9mm ammunition, and ₦1.6 million believed to be part of the ransom payment.
The rescued individuals have been debriefed and reunited with their families, bringing relief to the affected community. Meanwhile, efforts are ongoing to track and apprehend the fleeing kidnappers, as military surveillance in the area has been intensified.
In a statement, the Army reaffirmed its commitment to protecting citizens, denying criminals freedom of action, and ensuring that communities across the country can live and work in peace.
