The Police Service Commission (PSC) has released the names of 50,000 successful applicants recruited into the Nigeria Police Force (NPF) as Police Constables, marking the conclusion of the nationwide recruitment exercise aimed at strengthening the country’s policing capacity.
The Commission announced that the recruitment process was conducted in collaboration with the Nigeria Police Force, the Federal Character Commission, the Ministry of Police Affairs, State Career and Counselling Departments, and the Police Community Relations Committee (PCRC). According to the PSC, the exercise was designed to be transparent, inclusive, equitable and merit-driven.
Applicants who participated in the recently concluded written examination have been advised to log on to the official recruitment portal to verify their application status. The portal became accessible from 12:00 a.m. on Thursday, July 16, 2026. Successful candidates will also receive notifications through the email addresses and phone numbers they provided during the application process.
The PSC stated that shortlisted applicants will subsequently be invited to their designated Police Training Institutions on dates to be announced for medical examinations and documentation. It warned that candidates who fail to report within the stipulated period would be deemed to have declined the offer, while those who do not pass the mandatory medical screening conducted by the Police Medical Team will be disqualified from the training programme.
Successful recruits are expected to report with their training call-up slip, National Identification Number (NIN) slip, Bank Verification Number (BVN) slip, original and photocopies of their academic credentials, alongside other documents and items specified on the recruitment portal.
Chairman of the Police Service Commission, retired Deputy Inspector-General of Police Hashimu Argungu, expressed appreciation to President Bola Tinubu for approving the recruitment of 50,000 constables, describing the exercise as a significant step towards reinforcing Nigeria’s security architecture.
He urged the newly recruited constables to regard their appointment as a call to national service and to discharge their duties with professionalism, integrity and commitment to safeguarding lives and property across the country.
