ILORIN, Mr. Oladipo Moses Ayandibu has emerged chairman of the Men Missionary Union (MMU) of the Kwara Baptist Conference, succeeding Gabriel Alade at the union’s fifth annual conference held on Saturday.
Ayandibu, the immediate past second vice chairman of the union, pledged to build on the achievements of previous administrations and take the organisation to greater heights.
The leadership transition was a major highlight of the conference, which brought together members of the union to reflect on its progress, examine the responsibilities of purposeful leadership and strengthen its commitment to the mission of the Baptist Church.
In his acceptance remarks, Ayandibu expressed his determination to sustain established initiatives while improving on the foundations laid by his predecessors. He pledged to pursue further growth and development for the union, signalling his intention to combine continuity with renewed efforts to advance its objectives.
His emergence followed the tenure of Alade, who used his farewell address to highlight some of the achievements recorded during his administration.
Among the accomplishments he outlined were the purchase of an evangelism vehicle, the inauguration of an investment committee and improved financial contributions to the union’s national body.
The acquisition of the evangelism vehicle represents an investment in the union’s outreach activities, while the establishment of the investment committee reflects efforts to strengthen its financial base and explore opportunities for sustainable growth.
Improved contributions to the national body also featured among the outgoing chairman’s achievements, underscoring the administration’s efforts to meet its financial responsibilities within the wider structure of the Men Missionary Union.
The conference also featured messages on leadership and personal development, with Rev. Femi Alagbe of the Kwara Baptist Conference serving as guest speaker.
Alagbe spoke on the theme of Being a Purposeful Leader, drawing attention to the importance of intentional leadership in achieving organisational goals. His address provided a fitting context for the leadership transition, highlighting the responsibilities that accompany positions of authority and the need for leaders to remain focused on their mandate.
Another major highlight was a lecture delivered by Pastor Dr Oyewole Adeoye, a psychiatrist at Ladoke Akintola University of Technology (LAUTECH). His participation brought a professional perspective to the conference programme, which combined spiritual reflection with discussions relevant to leadership and service.
Ayandibu was formally decorated by the Royal Ambassadors and the Men Missionary Union during the event, marking his recognition as the new chairman.
A Track Record of Church and Community Service
Ayandibu’s emergence is backed by decades of involvement in church activities, organisational leadership, business and community development.
Born more than 60 years ago, he is a graduate of the University of Ilorin, Nigeria, a businessman and a pastor in training. His business interests include hospitality, enterprise management and maintenance consultancy.
He is the proprietor of Ile Iyan Plus Venture, Ilorin; managing partner of MD First Jasper Nigeria Enterprises; and managing director of The Jasper Maintenance Consultancy.
Within Emmanuel Baptist Church, Ilorin, Ayandibu has served in several leadership capacities, including chairman of the Men’s Fellowship of the English Chapel, vice chairman of the Men Missionary Union and chairman of the Afurugbin Society.
His service also extends to the Peace Baptist Association, where he served as chairman of its Men Missionary Union and chairman of its investment committee. He has additionally served on various other committees, contributing to the administrative and organisational activities of the church and its affiliated bodies.
In his hometown of Igbaja, Ayandibu previously served as chairman of the Imole Ntan Society of the Baptist Church and as secretary of the church. He currently coordinates the Imole Ntan Society and chairs the church’s investment committee.
Beyond the church, he has also participated in civic and community leadership. He served as Cabinet Secretary II of Lions Clubs International, District 404B Nigeria, during the 2011/2012 service year. During the same period, he also served as personal assistant to the then district governor, the late Professor Ayoade Adesokan.
He currently serves as chairman of the Igbaja Street/Olaitan Bakare Street community, further reflecting his involvement in community affairs.
Ayandibu is married to Deaconess Funke Ayandibu, and their family includes three children and a son-in-law.
Expectations for the New Administration
As Ayandibu assumes leadership, attention is expected to focus on consolidating the achievements highlighted by the outgoing chairman, sustaining the union’s evangelistic activities and strengthening its investment and financial structures.
His experience in church administration, investment committees, business management and community leadership provides a foundation for the responsibilities of his new office.
His pledge to improve on existing foundations also sets an agenda centred on continuity, institutional development and greater effectiveness in the union’s work.
The fifth annual conference thus marked both the conclusion of Alade’s tenure and the beginning of a new chapter under Ayandibu, whose administration will be expected to translate its stated commitment to progress into tangible results for the Men Missionary Union of the Kwara Baptist Conference.
