According to the statement, the suspects are: UMARU MOHAMMODU A. K. A. YELLOW ‘Male’, MOHAMMODU MOHAMMODU A. K. A. KERIMI ‘Male’, GARUBA ABUBAKAR ‘Male’, ILIASU USMAN ‘Male’, IBRAHEEM ABUBAKAR ‘Male’, USMAN HARUNA ‘Male’ AND UMARU BELLO ‘Male’ (INFORMANT).

CP Olaiya disclosed further that a cash sum of N1, 736,000.00 (ONE MILLION, SEVEN HUNDRED AND THIRTY SIX THOUSAND NAIRA) was recovered during a search of their hideout.

The statement:
“Sequel to the disturbing incidents of kidnapping in some parts of Kwara South, especially in Ora, Oke-Ode and other areas in Ifelodun Local Government Area, the command, after due consultation resulting from highly potent intelligence gathered, led to the formation of a powerful team comprising men drawn from the Counter Terrorism Unit, Anti-Robbery, Anti-Kidnapping, Anti-Cultism, Anti-Nacotic, Explosive Ordinance Department (EOD), Police Mobile Force (PMF), and Police Medical.

“The team was handed a distinct directive: combing the bushes and forests in the identified areas, arresting Criminals found, recovering arms and ammunition, rescuing victims and clearing the bushes of criminal elements.

“The operation began on 1/11/2023 with positive outcome recorded.

“This singular effort helped resulting in the lull experienced in the activities of these undesirable elements until the incident of 10/11/23 which occurred at about 2030hrs in Agbeku.

The command would not relent in her onerous and unmitigated pressure on the criminals until they relocate from the state of Harmony.

The Command’s team is committed to rescue all victims sooner than expected as the Command is hot on the heels of the Criminals.

Meanwhile, the seven suspects arrested in the operation and named above have been arraigned in court and presently remanded in Prison custody. Vigorous efforts are on to apprehend the perpetrators of this recent unfortunate incident.

On the kidnap incident on Friday, tragedy struck at Agbeku in the Kwara South district on Friday night, where two persons were reportedly killed and two were kidnapped, all from the same family.

It was gathered tha in about two months, the hoodlums had struck three times in Agbekuland.

We remember that about two weeks ago they also attacked our neighbouring community Ora, where they left death and kidnapped two persons.
