France booked their place in the semifinals of the 2026 FIFA World Cup after defeating Morocco 2-0 in a composed quarterfinal performance, with captain Kylian Mbappé and Ousmane Dembélé finding the net to keep Les Bleus’ title ambitions firmly on course.
The quarterfinal clash saw France assert their quality against a determined Moroccan side that struggled to create meaningful chances throughout the contest. Mbappé opened the scoring in the second half, making amends after missing a first-half penalty, before Dembélé doubled the advantage just minutes later to put the outcome beyond doubt.
France’s disciplined defensive display also earned them another clean sheet, extending an impressive run in the knockout stages. The victory sends Didier Deschamps’ side into a third consecutive FIFA World Cup semifinal as they continue their pursuit of another world title.
Morocco, one of Africa’s standout performers at the tournament, battled tirelessly but found it difficult to break down the French defence. The Atlas Lions were unable to mount a sustained attacking threat and exited the competition after another memorable World Cup campaign.
France will now face the winner of the remaining quarterfinal between Spain and Belgium for a place in the 2026 FIFA World Cup final.
