The Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP), the Islamic State-backed faction of Boko Haram, has released a video showing the execution of three Nigerian soldiers.
The footage, which was seen by SaharaReporters, shows the soldiers being shot by the insurgents with firearms.
The incident occurred on March 15th, 2025, in Yobe State.
According to sources, the soldiers were captured in the Kamuya and Azare areas of the state.
In the video, the soldiers were seen kneeling in a field, introducing themselves as members of the Nigerian security forces before masked gunmen in military fatigues open fire on them.
Since the death of Boko Haram leader Abubakar Shekau, ISWAP has been strengthening its presence around Lake Chad, with hundreds of Boko Haram fighters defecting to the group. The Nigerian Army has consistently claimed that the insurgency has been largely defeated, often downplaying the extent of losses.
The terror group has been responsible for over 100,000 deaths and the displacement of millions of people, primarily in Adamawa, Borno, and Yobe states.
