The Kwara State Police Command has recorded another victory in its determined effort to protect public infrastructure and maintain law and order. In a swift operation carried out on November 3, 2025, police operatives attached to the Eruku Division arrested a notorious vandal identified as Samson Ayodele, a resident of Skyway Road, Egbe, in Kogi State.

According to a statement released by the Command’s Public Relations Officer, SP Adetoun Ejire-Adeyemi, Ayodele was caught red-handed while vandalising a transformer that supplies electricity to Koro Town in Ekiti Local Government Area of Kwara State. The suspect was apprehended at about 5:50 p.m. following prompt intelligence and timely intervention by the police.
The police recovered several exhibits from the suspect, including three copper wire bars, one fuse, two connection wire bars, two wooden covers, two aluminium wires, several bolts and nuts, a bag of tools, and one digital scale.
During interrogation, the suspect reportedly confessed to the crime, admitting that he had previously been arrested, charged, and imprisoned in Kogi State for similar offences. However, upon his release, he returned to the same illegal activity that ultimately led to his latest arrest.
The Commissioner of Police, Kwara State Command, CP Adekimi Ojo, psc, mnips, commended the vigilance of the IBEDC staff and the swift response of the Eruku Police Division, describing their coordinated effort as a demonstration of the Command’s zero tolerance for infrastructure vandalism.
In his words, “Acts of vandalism that cripple essential services will never be tolerated in Kwara State. The Command will continue to work hand in hand with communities and service providers to identify and apprehend offenders wherever they operate.”
The Commissioner assured residents that the Command remains resolute in its mission to protect public assets, especially critical installations such as transformers, communication masts, and water facilities.

He further urged citizens to remain vigilant and promptly report any suspicious movement or activity around public utilities to the nearest police station for swift action.
The Kwara State Police Command reaffirmed its commitment to maintaining peace, ensuring the safety of lives and property, and sustaining collaboration with stakeholders in the state’s security architecture.
