An explosive device has been detonated at the secretariat of the Action People’s Party (APP) in Port Harcourt, Rivers State.
The party Secretariat situated in GRA Port Harcourt, reportedly suffered the dynamite explosion in the early hours of Monday.
Sources disclosed that assailants allegedly threw dynamites into the building housing the secretariat, shattering glass windows, doors, as well as other properties of the party.
This development is coming amidst speculations that the State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, plans to move with his supporters to the APP.
A party official who chose to remain anonymous said the incident was politically-motivated.
He said “Yes, I’m a member of the APP. I was informed of the attack at about 3 am today
“This is politically-motivated and there is no two ways about it. They know that the APP is a fast-growing political party in the state. We call on the police to investigate this and arrest the culprits.”
The spokesperson for the state police command, Grace Iringe-Koko, said she was yet to be brief on the incident.
