President Bola Tinubu has congratulated Ekiti State Governor, Biodun Oyebanji, on his victory in Saturday’s governorship election, describing the outcome as a strong endorsement of the governor’s performance and leadership over the past four years.
In a statement issued on Sunday by the President’s Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, Tinubu praised the people of Ekiti State for conducting themselves peacefully and orderly during the election and for expressing confidence in Oyebanji through the ballot.
The President also commended security agencies for maintaining law and order throughout the electoral process, while urging the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to sustain efforts toward delivering peaceful, free, fair and credible elections as the country prepares for the upcoming Osun governorship election and the next general election.
Tinubu noted that Oyebanji’s re-election marks a historic milestone, making him the first governor in Ekiti State’s history to secure back-to-back re-election victories. He attributed the achievement to the governor’s record in infrastructure development, agriculture, youth empowerment, education, healthcare and rural development under the administration’s BAO agenda.
According to the President, the renewed mandate reflects the electorate’s confidence in continuity, stability and people-focused governance. He urged the governor to remain magnanimous in victory and ensure that all segments of the state are carried along as he begins another term in office.
Tinubu further praised other candidates who participated in the election, describing their involvement as an important contribution to Nigeria’s democratic process. He called on all political stakeholders to unite behind the governor in advancing the development of Ekiti State.
The President reaffirmed the Federal Government’s commitment to partnering with the Ekiti State Government to deliver more democratic dividends and accelerate the implementation of the Renewed Hope Agenda across the country. He also prayed for wisdom, strength and good health for Governor Oyebanji as he continues to serve the people of the state.
