A violent attack by unidentified gunmen has left at least three people dead and caused widespread destruction in Dangoro village, located within Bungudu Local Government Area.
The incident, which has heightened concerns over persistent insecurity in Zamfara State, reportedly saw armed assailants storm the rural community, killing three residents and setting multiple houses ablaze. Food storage silos—critical to the agrarian livelihood of the village—were also destroyed in the attack, compounding fears of food insecurity among survivors.
Confirming the development, the spokesperson of the Zamfara State Police Command, Yazid Abubakar, disclosed the details in a statement issued on Monday. He noted that security agencies are aware of the incident and are taking steps to address the situation.
While the police have yet to provide further operational details or confirm arrests, the attack underscores the ongoing security challenges facing rural communities in the state, where banditry and armed violence have remained persistent threats.
Residents in affected areas continue to call for intensified security presence and proactive measures to prevent further attacks, as authorities work to restore calm and bring those responsible to justice.
