In a major step toward modernising public administration, the Federal Government has unveiled the Government Service Portal (GSP), a unified digital platform designed to provide Nigerians and businesses with seamless access to government services through a single online gateway.
The portal, officially soft-launched in Abuja on Tuesday, is expected to simplify interactions with government agencies by bringing a wide range of public services under one digital platform. The initiative forms part of the Federal Government’s broader digital transformation agenda aimed at improving efficiency, reducing bureaucratic bottlenecks, and enhancing service delivery.
The Government Service Portal was developed by Galaxy Backbone in collaboration with the Federal Ministry of Communications, Innovation and Digital Economy and the Korea International Cooperation Agency.
Speaking at the launch, the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Engr. Nadungu Gagare, represented by the Director of E-Government, Johnson Bareyi, described the platform as a significant milestone in Nigeria’s journey toward a more transparent, efficient and citizen-centred public service. He noted that the portal would improve how citizens and businesses access government services while strengthening digital governance across Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs).
The platform serves as a central access point where users can discover, apply for and obtain services offered by various government institutions without navigating multiple websites. By integrating services into a single interface, the Government aims to reduce paperwork, shorten processing times and improve the overall user experience.
Officials said the initiative aligns with President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, which prioritises digital innovation as a catalyst for economic growth, transparency and improved public sector performance. The portal is also expected to encourage greater adoption of e-government services while promoting accountability and accessibility across the public service.
The Federal Government urged citizens, businesses and public institutions to embrace the new platform, expressing confidence that it will become the primary gateway for accessing government services as Nigeria accelerates its transition to a digitally enabled economy.
