The Kwara State Police Command has strongly refuted viral social media claims alleging that a female police officer serving in the state was kidnapped and murdered.
In an official press release signed by the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Adetoun Ejire-Adeyemi (anipr), the Command described the story as false, misleading, and capable of inciting public fear.
“The report is not only false but also misleading, with the intent to cause panic in the state. There is no report of any female police officer missing or abducted in any division in Kwara State,” the statement read.
The Command clarified that no police division named ‘Ogidi’ exists in Kwara State, contrary to what was claimed in the viral post.
SP Ejire-Adeyemi condemned the spread of fake information on social media, noting that such acts harm both individuals and the general peace of the state.
“The spread of such misinformation is not only harmful to reputations but also distressing to the people of Kwara State,” she added.
She further urged citizens and media outlets to verify information before posting or sharing, especially concerning security matters.
Meanwhile the Command, under the leadership of Commissioner of Police, CP Adekimi Ojo, psc, mnips, has reaffirmed its dedication to safeguarding lives and property while maintaining transparency in all operations.
“The Kwara State Police Command remains committed to transparency and will continue to provide accurate updates as necessary,” the statement emphasized.
The Command also assured residents that it continues to collaborate with other security agencies to keep Kwara safe and peaceful.
