Prince Lekan Adewoye has formally declared his intention to contest for the Kwara South Senatorial seat under the All Progressives Congress (APC), submitting his letter of intent at the party’s state secretariat.
Speaking during the submission, Adewoye expressed appreciation to the party leadership for the opportunity, while affirming his readiness to represent the district.
He noted that his decision reflects a long-standing commitment to the APC, dating back to its formation in 2013.
Furthermore, he highlighted several initiatives undertaken through the Lekan Adewoye Foundation, which he said have impacted lives across Kwara South.
According to him, the foundation has sponsored the education of over 100 individuals, distributed more than 1,000 JAMB forms, and provided free healthcare services to over 1,000 beneficiaries.
In addition, Adewoye pledged to align with ongoing national development efforts, promising steady progress in infrastructure and legislative representation if elected.
“It is a privilege to aspire on this platform,” he said. “I seek the support and endorsement of the party, and I am confident that our party will emerge victorious.”
Meanwhile, the Kwara State APC Chairman, Prince Sunday Fagbemi, commended Adewoye’s contributions to the party and described him as a “gentleman of excellence.”
Fagbemi recalled Adewoye’s support during a challenging period for the party, noting that his donation of a generator helped restore functionality at the secretariat.
“His contributions have been consistent and impactful,” Fagbemi said. “He is well grounded in the party from the ward to the national level.”
Moreover, he referenced a large-scale empowerment programme organised by Adewoye, which, according to him, demonstrated capacity and commitment to public service even before holding elective office.
Consequently, the party chairman offered prayers for Adewoye, expressing hope for continued success and favourable outcomes in his political journey.
Overall, the event signals the early positioning of aspirants ahead of the next election cycle, as political activities gradually gather momentum across Kwara State.
