The Federal Government has issued a fresh flood warning, urging residents in parts of Northern Nigeria to remain vigilant as heavy rainfall is expected between October 1 and 3, 2025.
The alert, released by the National Flood Early Warning Centre (FEW Centre) under the Federal Ministry of Environment, comes as an extension of the earlier flood prediction announced on September 29, 2025.
According to a circular signed by Usman Abdullahi Bokani, Director of the Erosion, Flood and Coastal Zone Management Department, several states are at risk of flash floods due to anticipated torrential rains.

Kebbi State has the highest number of flagged locations, including Argungu, Bagudu, Ganri-Banza, Gwandu, Jega, Kalgo, Kamba, Kangiwa, and Birnin Kebbi.
Kaduna State has two locations on the alert — Jaji and Zaria.
Niger State is also on the watchlist, with Magama and Sarkin-Pawa identified as flood-prone zones.
