The much hyped Rangers vs Enyimba encounter has been abandoned following a late penalty call in favour of the Flying Antelopes in a Week 35 Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) match.
The game played on Sunday has been popularly tagged the Oriental Derby and was going to be the title decider with Rangers topping the league table with 60 points, trailed closely by Enyimba with 58 points.
The restless fans of the two sides trooped out en masse for the keenly contested encounter. All was going well in a goalless tie until the referee pointed to the penalty spot late in the game, awarding Rangers the spot kick.
That decision did not go well with Enyimba players who protested the decision. While efforts were made to resume play, the game turned chaotic when some fans invaded the pitch, disrupting the already tension soaked match.
