The Nigeria Police Force has unsealed key properties belonging to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Abuja, restoring access to the party’s leadership in compliance with subsisting court directives.
The affected properties include the PDP’s National Secretariat located at Wadata Plaza in Zone 5, Abuja, as well as Legacy House in Maitama. Both premises had previously been sealed amid internal disputes and legal tussles over the party’s leadership structure.
Following the enforcement of the court orders, control of the secretariat has been formally handed back to the PDP’s National Chairman, Hon. Abdulrahman Takushara, alongside the National Secretary, Senator Samuel Anyanwu. Their reinstatement marks a significant development in the protracted leadership crisis that has unsettled the party in recent months.
Police authorities did not issue an elaborate statement but confirmed that their actions were strictly in adherence to judicial pronouncements. The reopening of the offices is expected to enable the party’s national leadership resume administrative functions and coordinate political activities without restriction.
The PDP, one of Nigeria’s major opposition parties, has been navigating internal divisions that have triggered multiple court interventions. The latest development signals a temporary resolution in favour of the current leadership, pending any further legal or political challenges.
Observers note that the reopening of the secretariat could help stabilise party operations ahead of future electoral activities, though underlying tensions within the party may still require broader political resolution beyond the courts.
