Yesterday in North London, Harry Kane became the all time highest goal scorer for Tottenham Hotspur after his match winning goal that has been so much celebrated across the whole of north London.
The 29-year-old’su first-half strike broke the record he jointly held with Jimmy Greaves as Tottenham’s all-time leading goalscorer, taking him to 267.
Spurs played this weekend without manager Antonio Conte, who is recuperating at home in Turin after having his gallbladder removed. This stirring performance inside their baying stadium against the reigning champions was overseen by Cristian Stellini, Conte’s assistant.
Kane, after an exciting match day for him was quoted saying “I wanted to win so bad,” and it summed up the belligerent mood of his team as they aggressively went at City and never relented.
For Manchester City it was a severe blow. The Spurs has succeeded in helping their arch rival, Arsenal retain their 5 points clear lead on top of the table.
City was looking good to take the chance, after Arsenal’s defeat at Everton, to close the gap to just two points.
Pep Guardiola’s plan was however cut down as the match ended 1-0 to the “Harry Kane team” – as Guardiola referred to Spurs.
