Panic gripped residents of Ipetumodu in Osun State on Thursday after the lifeless body of a local farmer, Akeem Jimoh, was discovered on his farmland near the boundary between Ipetumodu and the neighbouring town of Asipa.
According to community sources, the discovery was both gruesome and unsettling, sparking immediate fears of possible foul play. The late Jimoh, a well-known farmer in the area, had reportedly gone to tend his crops but did not return home, prompting a search that led to the tragic find.

The incident has stirred tension and anxiety across the community, with some residents calling for increased security presence around the border areas and farmlands.
As of press time, the Osun State Police Command is yet to issue an official statement, but local vigilantes and community leaders have called for a thorough investigation into the cause of death.
Community members are urging authorities to ensure that justice is served and that peace is maintained between Ipetumodu and Asipa, two towns with a history of uneasy relations.
More details are expected as investigations continue.
