Kwara State was thrown into relief on Sunday as all 38 worshippers abducted during the attack on Christ Apostolic Church (CAC), Eruku in Ekiti Local Government Area were successfully rescued. Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq confirmed their release and praised the decisive involvement of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in the operation.
The victims, taken during a shocking raid on the church, were freed after days of intense security operations across difficult terrains. According to Governor AbdulRazaq, the breakthrough was a direct result of President Tinubu’s “hands-on leadership and unwavering commitment to citizens’ safety.”

Government insiders disclosed that President Tinubu personally monitored the situation from the onset, issuing firm directives to national security agencies and demanding daily updates on progress made toward the victims’ rescue.
Sources also confirmed that the President cancelled his planned trip to the G20 Meeting in South Africa to focus squarely on the security breaches recorded in both Kwara and Kebbi States. Governor AbdulRazaq described this decision as a “powerful demonstration of leadership that prioritises Nigerian lives above all else.”
In addition to the President’s intervention, heightened deployments were immediately ordered across the affected zones. Four new tactical police units were dispatched to Kwara as part of a broader security reinforcement strategy approved by the Presidency.
The Governor also acknowledged the coordinated efforts of the Office of the National Security Adviser, the Department of State Services (DSS), the Nigerian Army, and the Nigeria Intelligence Agency, all of which played crucial roles in the operation.
Security officials worked round the clock, combing forests, tracking movements, and employing intelligence-driven tactics until the abductees were safely recovered. Governor AbdulRazaq emphasised that the rescue was achieved without compromising the victims’ wellbeing.
He extended heartfelt appreciation to community leaders, religious organisations, and citizens across Kwara State for their cooperation and prayers throughout the tense period. He urged residents to remain vigilant and continue supporting ongoing security efforts.
The Governor reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to maintaining peace and strengthening partnerships with federal authorities to prevent future incidents.
Kwara residents have welcomed the news with relief, praising the swift response and expressing hope that continued collaboration between the state government and federal security agencies will further safeguard communities across the state.
