Kwara State Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq has been appointed Deputy Vice Chairman III of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Presidential Campaign Council ahead of the 2027 general elections, placing him among the senior figures in the party’s national campaign structure.
The appointment, contained in the revised campaign council list, gives the Kwara governor a prominent role in the APC’s preparations for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s re-election campaign.
Under the revised arrangement, President Tinubu will serve as chairman of the council, while Vice-President Kashim Shettima has been designated Vice Chairman I. APC National Chairman, Professor Nentawe Goshwe Yilwatda, will serve as Vice Chairman II.
Other principal officers include Senate President Godswill Akpabio as Deputy Vice Chairman I and Speaker of the House of Representatives, Tajudeen Abbas, as Deputy Vice Chairman II. AbdulRazaq completes the hierarchy as Deputy Vice Chairman III.
Beyond his national assignment, AbdulRazaq has also been retained as the presidential campaign coordinator in Kwara State. His responsibilities in that capacity include coordinating grassroots mobilisation, engaging party leaders and stakeholders, and aligning campaign activities to strengthen the APC’s electoral prospects in the state.
The revised list also features other prominent Kwara indigenes in strategic positions within the campaign council, extending the state’s representation beyond the governor’s appointment.
Former Minister of Youth and Sports Development, Jamila Bio Ibrahim, has been named Secretary II in the Directorate of Fundraising, while labour leader and former federal lawmaker, Chief Issa Aremu, has been appointed Deputy Director I in the Union Relations directorate.
Also listed as members of the Directorate of Stakeholders Mobilisation are Raheem Adedoyin, Hakeem Lawal and Pastor John Dara. Their inclusion brings additional political, community and stakeholder engagement experience into the council’s campaign structure.
The appointments come as the APC organises its national and state-level structures ahead of the 2027 presidential election. The campaign council is expected to coordinate political mobilisation, stakeholder engagement, fundraising and other activities in support of the party’s candidate.
The council is scheduled to be inaugurated on Wednesday, October 14, 2026, at the Banquet Hall of the Presidential Villa in Abuja.
AbdulRazaq’s elevation to the national campaign leadership, alongside his continued role in Kwara, places him at the centre of the APC’s efforts to consolidate its political base in the state while contributing to the party’s wider national campaign strategy.
