Afrobeats superstar David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, has publicly rejected a renewed paternity claim made by a Nigerian teenager, insisting that multiple medical tests have already proven he is not her biological father. The singer described the allegation as false and said the issue had been conclusively resolved years ago.
The controversy resurfaced after a young girl identified as Anu Adeleke shared an open letter on Instagram, appealing to Davido to take a DNA test. In the emotional post, the teenager said uncertainty surrounding her paternity had caused her prolonged bullying, emotional trauma, and identity struggles throughout her school years.
According to her account, the request was not motivated by fame or money but by a desire for clarity as she approached a new phase of life. She addressed the singer respectfully, saying she only wanted to know her true identity and put an end to years of psychological distress.
Davido, however, responded swiftly and firmly on social media, stating that the matter was not new and had already been scientifically settled. He revealed that five separate DNA tests had been conducted over time, all of which confirmed that he is not the girl’s father.
The singer explained that the tests were carried out at different hospitals, with both parties involved in choosing the facilities. According to him, three hospitals were selected by his team and two by the girl’s representatives, and every single test returned a negative result.
Expressing frustration, Davido said he had no relationship with the girl’s mother beyond the DNA testing process and questioned why the claim continued to resurface despite what he described as clear medical evidence. He warned that further attempts to link him to the claim would be met with legal action.
The paternity dispute has a long history, dating back more than a decade, with earlier claims also dismissed by Davido’s camp based on DNA results. Over the years, the issue has periodically re-emerged online, often triggering intense public debate due to the singer’s celebrity status.
Following the latest exchange, reactions across social media have been sharply divided. While some users expressed sympathy for the teenager’s emotional struggles and her quest for identity, others supported Davido’s position, arguing that repeated DNA tests should put the matter to rest.
Davido, who has openly acknowledged his other children in the past, maintained that his refusal to engage further on this issue should not be misinterpreted. He stressed that acknowledging children has never been a problem for him when paternity is confirmed.
Concluding his response, the singer stated that this would be his final public comment on the matter, urging those involved to stop associating his name with the claim and to allow him focus on his family, career, and personal peace.
