Abdul Adama, Personal Assistant to former Governor of Kwara State, Bukola Saraki, between 2003 and 2011, is on the run as the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) launches a manhunt to get him answer to a case of money laundering and conspiracy.
Adama was said to have signed for and laundered about N12 billion belonging to the Kwara State Government during his period of service to the former Kwara Governor, according to an advert by the Commission on his manhunt.
The previous administrations of the Saraki dynasty in Kwara State are renowned for encouraging a bazaar of looting, criminal diversion of funds and money laundering.
Several officials of their governments have been fingered in various financial scandals.
A forensic audit conducted by a professional firm also revealed that about N11.9 billion of public funds were stolen and unaccounted for between 2011 and 2019 under the administration of Governor Abdulfatai Ahmed, Saraki’s handpicked successor.
The latest news on the manhunt of Adama confirms the financial scandals that rocked the Saraki-led government.
According to the EFCC, Adama jumped administrative bail granted to him and has since remained incommunicado.
“His last known address is No. 38, Amichi Aikoye Street, Sabongari, Idah, Kogi State,” the advert read.
The Commission has urged people with useful information in his whereabouts to contact their various offices in the country, or the nearest Police Station and other security agencies.
